Need Help with Housing?

Check rent assistant programs in the US, designed to provide affordable housing solutions for low-income individuals and families. Click the link below and select your state to learn more about eligibility, subsidies, and the application process.

How To Apply for Section 8 Housing

Section 8 housing refers to a government program that provides rental housing assistance to low-income households in the United States.
Do you Qualify for Section 8?

To qualify for Section 8 housing assistances, you will need to meet the following conditions:

  1. Be at least 18 years old.

  2. Live in the U.S. as a citizen or eligible immigrant.

  3. Have very low or low income (not exceeding 50–80% of the median income for the area where you want to live).

  4. Pass a basic background check.

Can you get Section 8 in your state?

Contact the local housing agency in the state where you plan to move or live. Section 8 is handled at a local level, so you need to have an idea where you want to move first before applying. The representative at the local HUD office will help you start the application process for low-income housing. You can find out more information by visiting hud.gov/public-housing

How long is the waitlist and approval process?

The section 8 waitlist and approval process can vary significantly depending on the location and demand. On average, the waitlist can take anywhere from 1 to 7 years with longer wait times in high demand areas but shorter wait times in less populated areas. Depending on your situation and state you may be approved faster or need to apply and wait.

The Federal Communication Commission explains: "Since 1985, the Lifeline program has provided a discount on phone service for qualifying low-income consumers to ensure that all Americans have the opportunities and security that phone service brings, including being able to connect to jobs, family and emergency services.

An estimated 12-15 million Americans have a Lifeline cell phone and about

10 million more are qualified to enroll in the program and receive a free cell phone.

For more information on free government phones by your state, click the link below to see if you may qualify and give yourself one less bill to worry about this year.

When I was not able to afford my cellphone and even experienced life without a phone for a while. I decided to search for recourses, and I was told that I qualified for a free lifeline phone service that last a lifetime as long as I am using the cell phone services regularly. Ever since as promised, I have always had a working cell phone, hotspot, and access to internet with a little to no issues.

------------------------>

I am now currently recommending these free government cellphones to allow the other 10 million qualifying Americans to a free cell phone service that can make a huge change and difference in life. Why keep struggling to pay so much for a phone that you cannot afford when you can easily apply for a free one.

The government, as well as cable or phone companies, work to provide free access to the internet to help people with learning new skills, staying connected with friends / family, finding a job, working from home or remote learning and earning an income or starting a business. There are free high-speed broadband (cable, Wi-Fi, DSL) internet connections, including for people on SNAP Food Stamps, Medicaid, LIHEAP, EBT, or other government benefit programs.

Can't afford or need help paying your cell phone bill?

Depending on your location, a free government iPhone is available for low-income families as well as households that get public assistance, such as Medicaid, SNAP food stamps, SSI, section 8 or that have an EBT card. A number of companies provide free smartphones, including: Assurance Wireless, Q Link, SafeLink (Tracfone) Apple and others.
